PUBLICATION CYCLE

Armed Forces Comptroller is a quarterly journal. Publication months are as follows:

  • Winter issue – January
  • Spring issue – April
  • Summer issue – July
  • Fall issue – October

To allow for the ASMC Editorial Board review and layout processes, prospective contributors should submit articles eight weeks in advance of these dates. (See “Submission Deadlines” below.) Publication of journal issues may vary somewhat from the above targets to allow for the inclusion of special material or time-sensitive items.

EDITORIAL CONTENT

The purpose of Armed Forces Comptroller journal is to assist the American Society of Military Comptrollers in achieving its objectives in support of training and professional development of defense financial managers. The journal accomplishes this by:

  • Providing a forum to keep Society members and other interested individuals informed of current activities and innovative ideas in military comptrollership and its various disciplines. Articles on historical topics will be considered when they are relevant to current events and trends in defense comptrollership. Opinions and beliefs expressed in the Armed Forces Comptroller are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of ASMC.
  • Promoting the education and training of Society members, and supporting the advancement of the profession of defense financial management, by addressing the full range of functions and specialties that comprise the profession.
  • Maintaining an emphasis on people and what may be of interest and benefit to them, to include a well-balanced presentation of ASMC Chapter activities and other items of interest.

GUIDELINES FOR CHAPTER NEWS PHOTOS

The final pages of Armed Forces Comptroller are dedicated to sharing photos and news of chapter activities. Photographs and captions should be received eight weeks before an issue’s publication date.

When submitting photos, please use these guidelines:

  • Chapters may submit five (5) hi-resolution images (300 dpi) per journal issue, sent as email attachments (NOT embedded in a Word doc or PowerPoint).
  • Each image must include a clear caption (sent in a separate Word doc). Each image file should be named to correspond to the appropriate caption. At a minimum, the caption should include:
    • Chapter name
    • Full name (and rank if appropriate) of each individual pictured (left to right)
    • Detailed description of the activity in the photo.
    • Please do not use dates in captions.
    • There may not be available space to include lengthy captions or descriptions.
  • Events pictured must be timely—e.g., photos of winter holiday events may be appropriate for the Spring issue, but not for the Summer issue. Please keep in mind that we work eight weeks in advance of the mailing. For example, photos for the Summer issue are chosen in June.

Photos should be submitted to:
