Pre-Conference Training Sessions

Two special pre-conference sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 31-June 1, and will include intense coverage of examination Modules 1, 2 and 3. Each session will have two highly qualified instructors with extensive experience teaching the 5-day EDFMTC. These two-day events are intended for those who (1) are enrolled in the CDFM Program, (2) have completed a significant amount of exam preparation, and (3) wish to “top off” their knowledge prior to taking the exam at the PDI. On Monday you’ll choose between Module 1 and Module 2 and on Tuesday between Module 1 and Module 3. One or two modules may be chosen.  You will be in control when it comes to deciding which modules to attend. Separate registration for these pre-conference events is required and will cost an additional fee of $115 each module during PDI 2010 registration in order to attend this training.

A second set of pre-conference sessions will be held on Monday, May 31 and continue through Tuesday afternoon, June 1. The sessions will include intense coverage of the optional CDFM Module 4 examination (Acquisition). These sessions will be taught by highly experienced instructors. This two day event is intended for those who are already in the CDFM Program (whether you already hold the certification or not) and have elected to pursue the designation “CDFM with Acquisition Specialty.” Separate registration for this pre-conference event is required and will cost $375.  PDI 2010 registration is required in order to attend this training.

PDI Workshops

Introduction to CDFM Program
This workshop is intended to provide an overview of the Certified Defense Financial Management (CDFM) Program, the Enhanced Defense Financial Management Training Course (EDFMTC), and the benefits of being certified in the Department of Defense. The session is targeted to those individuals who are not now in the CDFM Program but would like more information. The workshop will be presented by an individual who is a CDFM and former senior level DOD employee. The session will be both informative and entertaining.

How to Become a CDFM in 8 Weeks…
The presenter will provide workshop attendees an inside look at the study plan he devised to pass all three modules of the CDFM.  "Note, Toney Williams' "How To Become A CDFM in Eight Weeks" – "full article and supportive study materials" will be placed on the website, after his presentation on June 4, 2010 at the ASMC PDI in Nashville, TN.  If you have questions regarding the presentation or material, contact Toney Williams, directly: anthony.williams@navy.mil or 901.874.4336; however, he will not send the materials directly to you; until after his presentation is complete for the PDI."

CDFM Testing

May 31 – June 4

All CDFM examinations at the PDI will be delivered via computer and special authorization and purchase procedures apply. All individuals wishing to complete an exam ($95 each) must be pre-enrolled in the CDFM Program and have their candidate ID. These are “Special Arrangement” exams and will require special pre-authorization by the CDFM staff.

Exams will be offered at 8:00 AM, 10 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM each day (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Testing is not available at 3 PM on Friday. Space may be limited so please sign up early. (We encourage you to test on Tuesday or Wednesday if possible as past experience shows that Thursday and Friday is usually 100% subscribed and not available for “last minute” scheduling.)

Do not attempt to purchase your CDFM exams now, you will be sent email instructions once your eligibility has been established.  This email will be sent approximately 2 weeks prior to PDI.

Recognition

Your PDI registration will reflect your status as a CDFM. Those individuals who achieve CDFM status after the date the conference badges are printed will need to check in with the CDFM staff at the PDI. CDFM ribbons for your conference badge will be available beginning Wednesday morning at the CDFM/ASMC booth in the Exhibit Hall.

A “CDFM/CDFM-A” reception will be held on Thursday evening 5-6:30 PM (location TBD). This is an invitation-only event and attendance is limited to those who have completed ALL requirements for the certification. The designation “CDFM” or “CDFM-A” on your name badge is your invitation. Those completing their certification requirements on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at the PDI are also invited.
