ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR DAY OF EXAM:

PROCTOR INSTRUCTIONS

8.  On the day of the exam all computer stations should be logged into the TRAINING AND EDUCATION CENTER via the Certification website (www.asmconline.org).   Follow steps 1-5 above.

  • The candidates then key in their student login ID/student password.  They then see their account and they will click on "details.”
  • This should then display the exam(s) purchased.
  • Click on DETAILS
  • Click on the exam you wish to take then click START
  • The system will ask for the proctor ID and password.  The proctor will need to visit each machine to key this information into the system.  DO NOT ANNOUNCE THE ID AND PASSWORD FOR THE CANDIDATES TO KEY IN TO THE SYSTEM.
  • Calculator and scratch paper are not allowed.

The system could pause while authorizing.  THE PROCTOR MUST NOT HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON A SECOND TIME, as THIS COULD CREATE A SIGNIFICANT SYSTEM PROBLEM AND CAUSE FALSE RESULTS BEING GIVEN TO THE TEST TAKER.

The candidate will have another opportunity to click START before the exam time begins.
The countdown clock is at the top center of the screen.  It will pause while the system loads the next question, so do not be concerned if the system is slow.  ONLY THE TIME YOU SPEND LOOKING AT THE QUESTIONS WILL COUNT.

Once you've clicked on your answer you move to the next question by clicking NEXT QUESTION.  If you aren't sure of your answer you may click BOOKMARK.  After you've seen all the questions you can REVIEW ALL QUESTIONS or only REVIEW BOOKMARKED QUESTIONS.

Once you are satisfied with your responses click on SUBMIT TEST.  DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED.  If you click on SUBMIT TEST before you finish your score will be based on only the questions that you have answered.

After you submit the test,  the system will pause and then display your results.  Assuming there will be a printer available; you may print this page for your records.  The results will be downloaded by ASMC after the exams have been completed (usually once a week, on Monday morning).  There is no need to call ASMC or send a copy of your results page.

In the unlikely event that one or more of the computers experiences a problem or crash, the student can log in again and repeat the process (to include the proctor ID and password).  This should bring the student back to the place where he or she left off.  In some cases the TRAINING AND EDUCATION CENTER popup screen will display the message "FILE NOT FOUND," or some similar message.  DO NOT PANIC.  First try an alternate mouse click in the popup window and then clicking on BACK.  This should return the candidate to the last screen they were viewing.
