American Society of Military Comptrollers

Candidates must have the required number of years of defense-related financial management experience outlined below to earn the CDFM designation:

• Two (2) years if you hold an Associate’s degree or higher; or
• Three (3) years if you do not have a degree.

 
If you do not have defense-related financial management experience, you must meet the following criteria outlined below to earn the CDFM designation:

• You must have four (4) years of Federal government-related financial management experience; and
• An Associate’s degree or higher.

 
 Verification of Financial Management Experience

ASMC requires all CDFM candidates to submit a Verification of Financial Management Experience form signed by a supervisor. The CDFM designation is not awarded until this form has been received by ASMC and experience is verified. ASMC recommends that candidates complete and submit their Verification of Financial Management Experience form when enrolling in the CDFM program.
