At ASMC’s PDI 2016 our Charity Raffle beneficiary was K9’s For Warriors, (a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization) dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from post 9/11 trauma disabilities. Their goal is to empower our suffering warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.

Based upon our contribution to K9’s For Warriors, ASMC was provided the opportunity to name a dog to be trained and then paired with a recovering warrior. Baron, named by Al Runnels, ASMC’s Executive Director, is a Golden Retriever given to K9’s For Warriors as a puppy and placed into the puppy-raising program where he spent almost a year living with a foster family until he was mature enough to enter the kennel. There was some basic training in the puppy program, so Baron had a head start on most of the other dogs entering the kennel.

Baron has completed his training and will soon be walking at his graduation ceremony that K-9s For Warriors will broadcast on their Facebook Live page for about 30-45 minutes on Thursday, 22 June, starting promptly at 1800 EDT. We invite our ASMC members to access the broadcast and watch Baron and his new "best friend” graduate from the training program.

Please visit https://www.facebook.com/K9sforWarriors on Thursday, 22 June at 1800 EST.
